Welcome to our Messy Church page

Maybe you're wondering what Messy Church is all about?
Please click here to find out more.....

Our next Messy Church will be on Saturday 19th April, 10am in St James, when we’ll be thinking about Easter.

Come along and get stuck in!
We're looking forward to seeing you then

Messy Church on Saturday March 15th was Messy Church with a BIG difference!

To allow the team some time to plan we did Messy Church at Home.

Our theme was Mothers’ Day / Mothering Sunday, and you can still do it if you download our special “How to do Messy Church at Home” guide here. It contains all the craft activities (templates, what to rescue from the recycling, other stuff you’ll need), and reminders about refreshments (sorry, but we couldn’t find a way for you to download chocolate spread from our website….)
And when you've done your making (and had your toast!), here's a short celebration to watch, along with links to some songs to sing (and dance to, if you like!)
You can find the celebration here
Father/Mother God here
and Lovely Jubbly here
(Sorry, but you may get some ads before the songs play...)

And of course, as it’s online, you can do it any time you like – so if you were going to have to miss this month’s Messy Church for some reason, you can now do it whenever works for you!

If you want, please DO send us some photos of what you’ve made and we’ll put them up on the website so we can all see what’s been made…

And we're already looking forward to seeing you next time.

What on earth is Messy Church???

Most people think of 'church' as people sitting quietly in rows, saying quiet prayers and listening to someone talking for quite a long time.
And church services can be like that...
but they don't have to be.

People can come together to enjoy being with God in all sorts of ways.
The important things are that
we are together
we are listening to God
we are learning more about God
whoever we are, and whether or not we like sitting quietly in rows and all that.

Messy Church
gives familes of all ages, shapes and compositions the chance to
enjoy crafts and other activities
take part in some simple worship
and to have breakfast together.

It's great for those of us who think with our hands
and don't much like sitting still.

It meets once a month on Saturday mornings*
10 - 11:30am
in St James' Church
(but not in the pews!)
Church Road
Shirley
B90 2AX
*the third Saturday of each month.
Don't worry - we'll remind you when it is via email if you wish.
And all our updates are posted on Facebook, Twitter and this page.

Messy Church
is open to everyone -
Please come and get stuck in!
