We’re back! Even though we’ve only had one month away from meeting as Messy Church it seems like AGES, and we’re really looking forward to seeing you at our
April Messy Church next Saturday, 19th April, 10am in St James.
This year, Messy Church Saturday is the day between Good Friday, when we remember Jesus’ death on the cross, and Easter Day, when we celebrate him rising from the dead and the new life which he offers us. So, no prizes for guessing what our theme is going to be this time!
As usual, we’ve got lots of activities to get stuck in to. How about a pop-up Easter chick? Or shredded wheat nests? Or clay crosses? Or cockerels, story wheels, or even an amazing “He Is Risen!” extravaganza? (It’s remarkable what you can do with a paper plate if you put your mind to it!)
Oh yes, and an Easter Egg Hunt (bring your waterproofs and wellies if it’s raining.) Plus all the things I’ve forgotten to mention…
And, as always, hot drinks, cold drinks and toast with every topping from Marmalade to Marmite. We’ve even stocked up on chocolate spread!
All brought together in a joyful – and noisy – Celebration at the end.
Since we last met, our new facilities “Pod” has been completed and opened, so this time at Messy Church we will have our super-shiny new kitchen, and (even more hooray!) our in-the-building toilet. No more need to go rushing over the road in the rain with a desperate child in tow… (Phew!)
We’ve done our best to plan how we’re going to do Messy Church with the Pod, but – well, you know how it is with plans. So please bear with us, as we all work out together how to make it work!
And as if all that wasn’t enough, this month sees the first edition of our new Messy Church Families newsletter, with reminders about what we’ve been doing, what’s coming up, quizzes, pictures, and a chance to “Meet the Team” – starting with the one and only Lily-Rose. Click on the link and it will be right with you! Let us know what you think - including your ideas for anything else we could include in it.
Hope you have a great first week of the holidays, and we're looking forward to seeing you at 10am next Saturday!
What on earth is Messy Church???

Most people think of 'church' as people sitting quietly in rows, saying quiet prayers and listening to someone talking for quite a long time.
And church services can be like that...
but they don't have to be.

People can come together to enjoy being with God in all sorts of ways.
The important things are that
we are together
we are listening to God
we are learning more about God
whoever we are, and whether or not we like sitting quietly in rows and all that.

Messy Church
gives familes of all ages, shapes and compositions the chance to
enjoy crafts and other activities
take part in some simple worship
and to have breakfast together.

It's great for those of us who think with our hands
and don't much like sitting still.

It meets once a month on Saturday mornings*
10 - 11:30am
in St James' Church
(but not in the pews!)
Church Road
Shirley
B90 2AX
*the third Saturday of each month.
Don't worry - we'll remind you when it is via email if you wish.
And all our updates are posted on Facebook, Twitter and this page.

Messy Church
is open to everyone -
Please come and get stuck in!
